The P6T SE is a cut price gem that delivers marginally less performance than the P6T Deluxe but its price makes it very tempting indeed. MORE DETAIL...

Conclusion
So what differentiates this board from the many other ASUS P6 motherboards on the market? The P6T SE is one of the few X58 motherboards currently available on the open market, which does not support SLI out of the box. Balancing that out is the lesser pricing on the board compared to other X58 boards and the multitude of tweaks the board has available through the BIOS. The board is available online for around $208 making it solidly a mainstream X58 board compared to some of the other options on the market. The board offers solid performance throughout with comparable performance to the other X58 motherboards I've tested. This makes this board a Hot Product as it offers the performance you want sacrificing only one major feature that most people won't use anyway. If not for lack of SLI support this would be an Editor's Choice motherboard, as there are some who will balk at that missing aspect of the board, but if SLI is not your bag, this board rocks and is priced very well for an X58 overclocker's motherboard. Conclusion
In all the tests the Asus P6T SE performed very well to standards expected from much higher end X58 motherboards. But that’s hardly surprising, as the P6T SE is pretty much a P6T with a few minor features and SLI removed.
The board layout is well designed and makes cable management much easier. Moreover, the amount of space around the CPU area makes installing an aftermarket cooler very simple. However, I would’ve liked for the CPU fan header to be situated in its normal positioning and for perhaps a couple of more 3-pin fan headers to be added.
The onboard Power Button makes testing the board as an open-chassis system extremely simple. This was definitely helpful for me when reviewing the board – I don’t use a case – and would also be of use for hardcore overclockers.
The only real gripe I have about the ASUS P6T SE is its lack of SLI support. This is one of very few X58 motherboards which do not support SLI as well as Crossfire. However, the removal of SLI support is what makes the P6T SE £25 cheaper.
To sum it up, if you have no intention of going down the SLI route and are looking for a high performance budget X58 board, I can thoroughly recommend you consider the ASUS P6T SE. MORE DETAIL...
